Purple Passion

, ,

The weather has cooled and the wildfire smoke has cleared out just a bit, and I can finally throw open the doors and windows and get some serious painting done. Paint fumes give Mr. Robot migraines, so the extra ventilation is important.

I decided to go with a violet theme. Three walls of my living room have a chair rail, and I’m still working on what goes below the rail but above the rail is now beautiful “classic lilac.” I love it with my shiny black trim. We bought new curtains to handle the afternoon glare from those windows, and I’ll be sure to show you once they’re up.

The fourth wall and hallway are going to be “evening lilac,” but I have to take down all the pictures and tchochkes and wash the wall first, so that’ll probably be next week. I’m planning on doing the ceiling in that color as well. I’m a big fan of painted ceilings.

After that, if my energy and budget (and the weather) hold, I’ll probably paint the dining room a very dark purple. Mr. Robot isn’t a big a fan of dark walls as I am, but our dining room is an open space with a lot of light so he’s willing to try a dark purple dining room. I should get on it before he chickens out.

  1. Oh, the ever changing shade of purple of my bedroom walls! It’s a beautiful colour! I take pictures of dolls from my collection in front of it and I often get compliments on the background, even though it looks different depending on the doll colouring 🙂 Good luck with your plan, purple is a very pleasant room colour!
