Move Accomplished

We’re finally done with the big move to Santa Fe. Mostly. It’s all gone really well, actually. Every move is a million little chores to do and details to remember, and every new city is a million things to figure out, but nothing terrible happened and we didn’t forget or mess up anything too important. We even got the kids registered and ready for the first day of school today. We still have a couple major things to do and a lot of stuff left to unpack, but we’re coasting down to a more normal level of chores and planning after the summer’s work.

It’s only been a couple of weeks but we’re relaxing into our new house and enjoying our new neighborhood. Turns out we arrived during the summer rainy season so we’ve enjoyed watching the thunderstorms roll in every afternoon. We’re also finally starting to explore the local sights. We’ll still be on a tight budget for a couple months but Mr. Robot found out the Santa Fe opera is showing an opera based on Dracula and we couldn’t resist. We’re going as a late birthday present for me. The Santa Fe opera house is open on the sides so you can watch the sun setting all around you as they sing. It sounds like a unique and exciting experience.

Now that the rush is over I should have more time to read, listen to music, and pursue my hobbies, including updating y’all more often. Since I’m still obsessed with Dark Academia and don’t want to turn this into a book blog (more than it already is), I’ve decided to start a sister blog devoted to my more academic leanings. I haven’t sat down to figure out exactly what posts will go where yet, but there will probably be some cross-posting. I’ll give the new blog a mention when I get to the first posts, probably next week. Maybe after we see Lord of Cries. 😉 In the meantime, here are assorted photos from our move. The first couple are from our old house as we packed up and left, and the rest are of our new home.
