I’m making great progress on my latest sweater. The pattern is inspired by French Impressionist painter Berthe Morisot. The cable running down the center kind of reminds me of vertebrae or corset lacing. I fell in love the moment I saw it, and it’s working up surprisingly quickly. The brown sweater is what it will look like when I’m done. Hopefully, anyway. The blue is mine, though in real life it’s a very dark navy.

It’s Thanksgiving week for us, so I’m enjoying one last quiet day before we start cleaning and cooking and eating our feast and decorating for the winter holidays. I’m actually pretty excited. Since we’re not having the usual huge potluck with the in-laws, that means I’m cooking. Not to brag, but I’m a pretty good cook and I think we’ll have a delicious dinner this year.
Thanksgiving also has my Facebook feed full of gratitude posts. Mostly it’s cute, but there’s a religious “give thanks” hashtag going around this year so a lot of the posts from religious relatives have an extra preachy vibe that’s kind of annoying. It’s inspired me to post goofy things I’m thankful for, like Project Gutenberg and true crime podcasts and the beautiful geniuses who invented Jenny Hanivers. I make my own fun.
In case you’re not familiar, these are Jenny Hanivers. Crazy, right?
