My walls have been bare since late September, when I started painting. I’ve never lived without art on my walls, so these artless rooms that echo when we talk don’t feel like home. I wanted to rearrange some of the pictures, though, and several needed new frames, and I’ve kept putting it off for more pressing business.
This week I finally made time to fix this situation. I started with the little collection in the hallway, where we hang the kids’ school pictures and a few of our small favorites. I’d thought about using silver frames but I couldn’t find any for a good enough price, so I bought black frames (on sale for half price) and added cord (also on sale) to make them more exciting. The whole thing only took an afternoon and I’m quite pleased with how it turned out.
The frames have a groove all around, so I used the bottom of that groove as my guide and just tacked the cord on with hot glue.
I stuck them to the wall with those 3M Command velcro strips. That’s what the old frames were stuck on with and they came off beautifully before I painted, so I bought some more for these. Now I just have to fix the uneven lighting in my hall and everything will be perfect. *sigh* Maybe someday.
